Forres Mechanics v Cove Rangers, 22nd November 2014

Two teams that are currently playing well met at Mosset Park, Forres for this intriguing encounter. Forres had the bulk of the play in the first half with both goal-keepers and defences tested but not broken. Dachi Khutsishvili impressed with his darting runs and was a constant threat to the visiting defence. He was outshone by Cove Rangers fan, Ian “Jetto” Yule who casually back-heeled the ball into play – will we see him on the subs bench next week!

John Sheran’s half-time team talk saw Cove start the second half with intent but it was the home side on 49mins that broke the dead-lock. After some good possession Ross MacPherson latched onto a mistake from the Cove defence before smashing the ball into the top-corner taking this goal straight into the nominations for SHFLtv Goal of the season!

Cove responded with two goals on 63mins and 68mins with the first coming from Daryl Nicol after a surging run into the box by Stuart Duff before Jamie McAllister laid the ball to Nicol. Daryl Nicol was again involved, this time turning provider, with a pin-point perfect cross for Jamie McAllister who fired a header under Forres goal-keeper Stuart Knight.

Although Cove Rangers dominated the second half, Forres Mechanics levelled the score on 83mins with substitute Kris Duncan squaring the ball to Lee Fraser who was never going to miss.

Interviews by George Alexander with Charlie Rowley (Mgr Forres Mechanics), John Sheran (Mgr, Cove Rangers) players Ross MacPherson and Jamie McAllister.

Included in the program are the mid-week goals from Brora Rangers visit with Strathspsey Thistle. In the main stand Aberdeen FC Vice-Chairman George Yule and former Scotland Manager, Craig Brown saw seven goals in the 90minutes of football.
Brora Rangers scorers were Steven MacKay 21,31mins Scott Graham 30mins, Dale Gillespie 41,48mins, Colin Williamson 68mins and Colin MacLean 78mins
